House Cleaning
Chemicals contained in common detergents are well known to disturb the eyes, skin and the respiratory system
Detergents with surfactants, dyes and perfumes are dangerous for you and the environment.
Detergents are washed away and released into the drainage system, contaminating rivers, lakes and oceans. Every day more and more people working as cleaning personal are experiencing irreversible loss to their sense of smell. It means they can't smell anything anymore.
In California, to avoid possible future legal problems it is not unusual to find a warning at the entrance of the building warning cleaning personnel and residents stating: "in this building we are using products for cleaning that contain chemicals recognized as a cause of cancer by the State of California." Chemicals contained in common detergents are well known to disturb the eyes, skin and the respiratory system, as well as the hormonal system (problems related to the thyroid, pain during period, flashes, irritability or depression, lack of energy).
Why should you pay special attention to detergents when washing dishes and clothes? Because their chemicals are very resistant even if they are well rinsed. Therefore, you may end up cooking and eating residues of chemicals. Through clothes, you might get chemicals in direct contact with your skin, as well as inhaling them. This can be even more harmful when sleeping in bed sheets washed with detergents with perfumes, as you will inhale those chemicals all night long (6 to 8 hours).
Simple advice:
- Always use GLOVES while using detergents. Among the wide range of gloves for doing cleaning we advise only one brand. - Find detergents with NO surfactants, coloring and perfumes. For commercial reasons you may not find the same good detergent everywhere.
